Punxsutawney Phil Did Not See His Shadow – Bring on Spring!

On this day 129 years ago, Groundhog Day, featuring a rodent meteorologist, was celebrated for the first time in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. According to tradition, if a groundhog comes out of its hole on this day and sees its shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter weather; no shadow means an early spring. No word on whether an optometrist is on hand to verify what the ground hog actually sees.

Here in North Texas, we’ve enjoyed our mildest January in years, so perhaps now IS a great time to start thinking about Spring! From Spring cleaning to planning a few home improvement products, it’s our favorite time of year.
